On February 2nd, ITZSOWEEZEE’s own beat sampras and ΛV connected to play a stellar 1.5h b2b set for the 24h pop-up launch of Istolethesoul FM, Toronto’s newest online radio community founded by Jayemkayem and Paul Chin. The vibes in the studio were amazing, and we’d like to thank Jo and Paul for having us be a part of such a wonderful experience. We’re stoked to be a part of the movement and are looking forward to the next edition of the pop-up.
All of the mixes from the 24h launch have now been uploaded to Mixcloud, and you can listen to the fiery ITZSOWEEZEE set in the player below.
Our homegirl JAYEMKAYEM (aka Jo) has connected with Paul Chin to launch a brand new Toronto-based radio platform called Istolethesoul FM. Their aim is to provide artists in the city a new medium on which to broadcast their unique sounds to the rest of the world. Jo and Paul have been hard at work preparing the launch of their new station, working with sponsors like MOOG Audio, 876 Studio, Steam Whistle Brewing, and Red Bull to put together an extraordinary 24 hour launch event. That’s right, today marks the beginning of the official Istolethesoul FM 24 Hour Radio Pop-Up. Starting at 12:00pm EST, listeners can tune in online for an entire 24 hours worth of live mixing from a line-up of Toronto’s dopest DJs and producers.
ITZSOWEEZEE is extremely proud to take part in today’s launch, and our own ΛV and beat sampras will be on air, live, with a very special b2b set from 8:30pm to 10:00pm EST. Tune in at www.istolethesoul.com and be sure to follow @istolethesoulfm on Instagram to stay up-to-date with all of today’s sets and future events.
Unheard until now, I remixed one of SZA`s first songs. I have to thank Remy Banks (New York Rapper) who I had met up with at the Electracraft studios in Manhattan. It was a leisurely day & Remy hipped me to her. Funnily enough that same session my girlfriend took her pregnancy test in the studio bathroom & found out she was pregnant with my child. I will not forget it. Anyway, I fell in love with the song Aftermath for its lyrics instantly…
I apologise for waiting to tell you for so long that I am not human.
I am made of Bacon, fairy tales, pixie dust – I don’t feel.
I hung myself, I didnt die, Im omnipotent, Im alive
Not real but Im alive
I remember her following me back on twitter, and I would send beats. One valentines day I was in New York and I messaged her to see if she wants to get in the studio… It never happened. Maybe the DM seemed thirsty on V Day hahaha! “lets make music on valentines day” can sound a bit no chill… But SZA continued to like all my baby photos on Insta when paz was born! So there is that haha.
Anyway I got the stems for aftermath from producer WNDRBRD and made this mix. I never released it because at the time I felt it was too Minimal for my tastes… But listening back I think it is a nice blissful take on one of my fav songs ever. IMO the original was an anthem released too early in SZAs career to be lapped up in mass adoption!
Hope u can dig it & that you had a smashing new year!

Multi-talented Toronto artist Just John lets go of a funky new Fevra-produced rap track called “NOISE”. Look out for his new project, Black Beret EP, dropping on December 8th via our friends over at Bedroomer.
Toronto veteran producer DJ Agile connects with Sacha Williamson for a funky new R&B/house track called “Lovers”. Released by Tokyo Dawn Records, the song is featured on their new compilation, The Move Vol. 2, and is available to stream/download at their official website. Press play and dance!
Summer is over. The temperature is dropping. Evenings come earlier. TIFF season is upon the city. Nightlife abounds. It’s always around this time of year that Toronto seems to come to life (there’s a reason The Weeknd calls himself the “King of the Fall”). For me, the soundtrack to autumn in Toronto needs to be peppered with a healthy dose of deep house vibes, and that’s exactly what my guy beat sampras brings to the table with his latest offering, “3AM”. On the track, warbled synth stabs lead into a brooding bassline, followed by whispered vocal samples paired perfectly with electronic melodies. Inspired by the “Toronto bump” stylings of friend and fellow Toronto producer, Michael Imperial (see his previous releases here), sampras concocts a track that immaculately evokes late night strolls down Queen Street in the crisp autumn night air. “3AM” is infectious, it’s funky, and it’s going to be in after-party rotation for quite some time. Cheers on another huge release brother.
ITZSOWEEZEE Spotlight Series highlights the incredibly talented DJs and producers that make up the ITZSOWEEZEE ranks, as well as our extended music family. Each month, we deliver a fresh mix that reflects the diverse style and flavour of our crew. This is an opportunity to “meet” our selectors, enjoy some amazing free music, and understand why we command the respect that we do.
It’s hard to believe that it’s been three years since we started the Spotlight Series. What began as an effort to showcase mixes from our crew and our many talented friends, ended up connecting us with so many dope artists from all over the planet. We’ve featured the likes of Ikaz Boi from France, Star. One from the UK, Live Evil from Vancouver, gahn from San Francisco/Oakland, MADD3E from Italy, Triv from Wisconsin, and our friends from closer to home such as Pat Drastik, DJ Illo, Yuknodis, Jayemkayem, Freeza Chin, Krubera, Nick Bike, Internet Daughter, and so many more (see all the releases here). We’ve made it to the 36th, and FINAL, edition of the series. After three years, we feel like it’s time to create something new – so while the Spotlight Series is coming to a close, keep it locked for new projects from us in the not-so-distant future. With that being said, it made sense to cap off the ITZSOWEEZEE Spotlight Series by shining a light on the younger generation from our city and passing the torch to Toronto production crew WAVGODS.
We first met WAVGODS when DeMiggs and beat sampras were asked to DJ a party at Rightfoot Studio, hosted by David Forteau. With a studio space filled with professional dancers, the onus was on the DJs to ensure that the vibes were 100% on point. Opening the night were WAVGODS, a young duo with an energy that very few DJs in the city possess. Needless to say, they caught our ears and DeMiggs made it a point to keep in touch with them ever since. From early 2016 onward, we’ve been featuring their originals, remixes, and mixes, and it was only right to ask them to contribute a guest mix for the Spotlight Series. On their mix, the guys deliver a superbly-blended 40-minute collection of genre-bending tracks with one goal in mind: to keep you dancing. We seriously dare any of you to listen and not start nodding your head instantly. Infectious and carefully-considered track selection is definitely at play throughout the mix. Thank you WAVGODS for this final chapter of the Spotlight Series – it captures the essence of what ITZSOWEEZEE is all about. Salute.
We are extremely proud to present “Lose Control”, the debut single by our homegirl FeelGoodSmalls. A few months after blessing us with one of the hottest mixes in our exclusive Spotlight Series, Smalls moved out to the UK with our own Willson Sounds on a journey through music and self-discovery. Since then, she’s worked hard and found success as a DJ in London, playing some of the best parties in the city. She also began to hone in on her production skills, earned herself a coveted record deal with Universal/AfterCluv and has been on her studio grind in both London and Miami.
The fruits of her labour can be heard in “Lose Control”, as she crafts a vocal house heater that would bang in any dance environment from big room warehouse parties to beach festivals to a wild condo jam. The bass draws from Smalls’ experience spinning moombahton in Toronto, the melodies draw from her Ibiza tropical house influences, and the piano stabs are a testament to the year she has spent in the London club circuit. The track is rounded out by smooth vocals from Toronto’s own Charlie Black, and the the result is nothing short of incredible. But don’t take our word for it – listen for yourself and check back in after you realize you’ve had the song on repeat for the entire day. FeelGoodSmalls is the name. Commit it to memory. She is here to stay.
