It’s always a good feeling when Dom Dias hits us up to premiere one of his creations, because we know our ears are in for a treat. Today, the Toronto producer blesses us with a solid remix of “Love$ick”, the breakout single by UK representative Mura Masa. The original, and the single release featuring A$AP Rocky (check the video in our previous post), are melodic affairs, full of piano stabs, flutes, steel drums, and soulful vocal chops. Dom ups the ante on his remix, by focusing on the steel drums, adding in a stuttering bass line, and reworking the record into his signature Caribbean-flavoured style. Think of the original as the jerk chicken, A$AP Rocky’s version as the rice and peas, and Dom’s as the pepper sauce that brings all of the ingredients together. Press play and taste the delicious blend that Dom has cheffed up – you won’t be disappointed. He’s also made the release available as a free download, so grab that while it lasts! Be sure to catch him as he opens for Snakehips this Friday, November 11th, at The Danforth Music Hall (147 Danforth Ave, Toronto). For more information, check out the Facebook event page. He’ll also be playing the Wrong Angle Records Party at Maison Mercer (15 Mercer St, Toronto) on Saturday, November 12th, and you can find more information about that on Facebook as well.
