Our homegirl JAYEMKAYEM (aka Jo) has connected with Paul Chin to launch a brand new Toronto-based radio platform called Istolethesoul FM. Their aim is to provide artists in the city a new medium on which to broadcast their unique sounds to the rest of the world. Jo and Paul have been hard at work preparing the launch of their new station, working with sponsors like MOOG Audio, 876 Studio, Steam Whistle Brewing, and Red Bull to put together an extraordinary 24 hour launch event. That’s right, today marks the beginning of the official Istolethesoul FM 24 Hour Radio Pop-Up. Starting at 12:00pm EST, listeners can tune in online for an entire 24 hours worth of live mixing from a line-up of Toronto’s dopest DJs and producers.
ITZSOWEEZEE is extremely proud to take part in today’s launch, and our own ΛV and beat sampras will be on air, live, with a very special b2b set from 8:30pm to 10:00pm EST. Tune in at www.istolethesoul.com and be sure to follow @istolethesoulfm on Instagram to stay up-to-date with all of today’s sets and future events.
French production kings Myth Syzer and Ikaz Boi connect with Belgian sensation Hamza for the official visuals to “High”, one of the standout tracks from their recently released collaborative EP, Cerebral. Check out the video above and support the EP on iTunes – you won’t be disappointed.
Our brother Ikaz Boi is gearing up to release Cerebral, his collaborative EP with fellow Frenchman, Myth Syzer. To whet your appetites for the full project, the duo let go of “Timeless”, a melodic trap banger that will have you nodding your head from the moment you press play. Cerebral, recorded entirely at Red Bull Studios Paris, will be out on June 17th via Bromance Records, and is available for pre-order immediately.
You don’t come across artists like Gallant often. Armed with a unique voice, a big vocal range and a rare knack for penning songs that transcend the ephemeral, this 21-year-old from Maryland now residing in L.A., is hard to grasp. Perhaps picture a sort of nightmare muzak: dreamy and lovely, for sure, but with more than a hint of the deathly.
On this song recorded at Red Bull Studios Los Angeles, his spectral warble can be heard alongside the musings of his mentor at Red Bull Sound Select, James Fauntleroy who also produced the track under his “someone who loves you.” alias. The Grammy winning singer and songwriter from Inglewood has worked with everyone from Thundercat to Timbaland, Rihanna and Justin Timberlake, so rest assured he
doesn’t pick his collaborators lightly…
This Saturday, July 5th, our good homie Skratch Bastid is throwing the 2014 edition of his annual Bastid’s BBQ party in Toronto (Queen & Peter). We are pleased to announce that ITZSOWEEZEE co-founders Tom Wrecks and DeMiggs will be playing a four turntable set at the jam, which is headlined by the legendary Tony Touch. The event goes from 3-11PM, and there will be a number of amazing food vendors on hand, so come out and eat, drink, and party with the crew! If last year was any indication, it’s going to be one hell of a day!
