Jan 27: ITZSOWEEZEE w/ Skratch Bastid, DJ Ferno, Tom Wrecks, DeMiGGs, ΛV + Very Special Guests

Posted by: noble savage on 24/01/2018 in Events

It’s the first ITZSOWEEZEE party of 2018 in Toronto, and we are pulling out all the stops to start the year off strong. Blessing the stage will be our brother Skratch Bastid, who is a living legend in Canada’s DJ/music scene. He’ll be heading over to Drake Underground (1150 Queen St W, Toronto) after his performance with DJ Jazzy Jeff & The Playlist for the Live At Koerner Hall concert series presented by the Royal Conservatory of Music. Bastid will be bringing along Philadelphia native DJ Ferno, co-star of the esteemed travelogue series, Vinyl Destination. In that series, DJ Ferno travels the globe with DJ Jazzy Jeff to perform and learn about vinyl culture in different countries. Rounding out the night will be ITZSOWEEZEE’s own Tom Wrecks, DeMiGGs, and ΛV – three of Toronto’s finest. But we’re not done yet – expect a lot of extremely special guests to be in the building – with this many insane DJs on the line-up, you never know who will step to the decks to show and prove…

Skratch Bastid & Cosmo Baker – Songs We Listened To A Lot In 2014

Posted by: Hans Gruber on 20/01/2015 in Mixes, Music

The third installment of the Skratch Bastid & Cosmo Baker‘s year end mix series. Songs We Listened To A Lot In 2014 is two and a half hours of just great music curated by two amazing djs.

Another year, another soundtrack.

As you may know by now, this mix and series is different. It’s a snapshot of the year, but from a different perspective than your typical year end mix or list. It is not a definitive list of the biggest tunes that came out in 2014, yet our goal is similar – move the listener (whether it’s your heart or your ass), and tell a complete story.

It’s a story of how music that we all listen to becomes this intangible soundtrack to the experiences of the lives we lead. The same way certain smells trigger memories, songs serve the same purpose. And those songs are not bound by release schedules or media exposure. They hit us when they hit us, and become ours. This mix is about THAT.

Listening to music is catharsis. It’s something we need and that we take for granted. We love music, what it means to us, what it does for us, how it makes us feel. This mix is a true labor of love – we hope you enjoy it!

Shad & Skratch Bastid – The Spring Up EP

Posted by: noble savage on 13/06/2013 in Music

The homie Skratch Bastid got together with lyrical wizard Shad to release The Spring Up EP, which features five dope records to bump during the (hopefully) good weather we will have for the rest of the summer. Stream the project below and download via Bandcamp.

The Spring Up is the result of fortunate timing, grapefruit Perrier, a shared high school obsession with Outkast’s Aquemeni, and a couple of sessions at Skratch Bastid’s Toronto studio this April. The 5 track collection marks a moment in time for the pair; embodying the spirit of Spring and also serving as a sort of prelude to Shad’s upcoming full-length, to which Skratch Bastid also contributes. The collection features a production assist from DJ Jazzy Jeff, and a turn on the mic from compatriot Cadence Weapon.
