beat sampras returns with “All On You”, the newest single from his forthcoming project, This Was Once The Future. “All On You” is a track that captures the essence of winter in Toronto perfectly, with moody synths layered over forward-thinking drums, and an underlying melody that evokes the simultaneous senses of anxiety and euphoria. The song features Calgary native Lisa Lobsinger (Laser; Reverie Sound Revue; Broken Social Scene), whose vocals seemingly lure the listener into Toronto’s underground. If there’s a track that sums up the experience of escaping a cold city night in a dimly lit after-party, and warming yourself up with a glass or three of Jameson, then this is that record. Stream “All On You” below, and support the track on Spotify, Apple Music, and Tidal.
Summer is over. The temperature is dropping. Evenings come earlier. TIFF season is upon the city. Nightlife abounds. It’s always around this time of year that Toronto seems to come to life (there’s a reason The Weeknd calls himself the “King of the Fall”). For me, the soundtrack to autumn in Toronto needs to be peppered with a healthy dose of deep house vibes, and that’s exactly what my guy beat sampras brings to the table with his latest offering, “3AM”. On the track, warbled synth stabs lead into a brooding bassline, followed by whispered vocal samples paired perfectly with electronic melodies. Inspired by the “Toronto bump” stylings of friend and fellow Toronto producer, Michael Imperial (see his previous releases here), sampras concocts a track that immaculately evokes late night strolls down Queen Street in the crisp autumn night air. “3AM” is infectious, it’s funky, and it’s going to be in after-party rotation for quite some time. Cheers on another huge release brother.
While the internets go nuts for VIEWS, we wanted to spread some love to one of our brother-in-arms, Michael Imperial, who just released an amazing Toronto Bump (aka Michael’s trademark house vibe) remix to “Flashlight”, an already stellar cut by fellow Torontonians WILDE. The remix is available as part of WILDE’s Flashlight remix EP, which is available to stream now via SoundCloud. Stream Michael’s remix below, and take in the entire project after the jump.
Our brother-in-arms, Michael Imperial, releases the official visuals to his beautiful slow-rolling electronic R&B single, “Saviour”, featuring Montreal’s AKUA on vocals. The track is featured on Michael’s Saviour / No More EP, released via Armada Music, in November. For audio only, see our previous post and click here to support the music on your medium of choice.
We’re very pleased to present the latest release from ITZSOWEEZEE fam Michael Imperial. Michael, co-founder of Rare Beef Records, is a Toronto-based producer and just dropped his new single “Saviour” and its B-Side, “No More”. “Saviour” is an electronic R&B gem in Michael’s signature Toronto-bump style, and features the soulful sounds of Montreal vocalist AKUA. “No More” is a more of a traditional house bit, but again contains some beautiful vocal work by Toronto’s Clara Klein. Both songs are great examples of why Michael has been gaining international recognition of late, and are available to purchase via Netherlands-based record label Armada Music. Do yourselves a favour and add these two tracks to your rotation – you won’t be disappointed. Stream below and download here on your medium of choice.
Our brother-from-another-mother, Michael Imperial, just dropped some official visuals to “All Night”, a moody-yet-bouncy cut off his 2014 EP, Secret Drugs Volume 3. Check out the video, shot by Revolver Films, above, and take in the full project via our previous post.
Shot in Vietnam―a place that has fascinated Michael both in cuisine and martial art forms―the video shadows the tale of a young Vietnamese boy whose nightly activity ranges from criminal to sexual. As Michaels swelling harmonies and cyclic synths loop themselves through the plot, the boy throws back shots of vodka and we even get a glimpse of some boobs.

ITZSOWEEZEE Spotlight Series: Michael Imperial (ITZ004)
ITZSOWEEZEE compatriot Michael Imperial releases the long-awaited third edition in his Secret Drugs series, bringing forth another dose of his own Toronto Bump sound. This guy has been around since the very beginning, and I’ve been blessed to observe the evolution of his sound from basement hiphop beats to his now unique, polished blend of R&B, house, and UK garage. As co-founder of Rare Beef Records, Michael is involved in the release of a lot of great music – now it’s his own time to shine. You’d honestly be a fool not to take in this project. Stream the five track EP below, and get the free download via Facebook.
The rifle on the wall has gone off and our resolution has arisen new questions.
Hopefully next time we meet, it will be in a place unexpected.
